A3: Learning Activity
Grade Level: First Grade
Lesson: Counting to 120 by ones
Standards: CC.1.NBT.1 Extend the counting sequence. Count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. In this range, read and write numerals and represent a number of objects with a written numeral.
Assessments:
- Tech Tool- The tech tool I will use is a website called "Math Playground". During this lesson students will be able to count to 120 by ones, starting with number 1 and writing out each number in numerical order on a blank number chart. Students will be able to better understand this concept using this tech tool because it is an interactive website that allows students to participate in different games to help them successfully count to 120. This website guides students in identifying numbers using different counting patterns and methods.
- Formative Assessment- An formative assessment that could be sued during this lesson would be digital response. A digital response and be created using Kahoot. The entire class will participate in a Kahoot game that will ask students to identify the order of different numbers from 1-120. Using Kahoot students will use their tablets where a question will be projected on the white board and students would response using their tablets. Date will be received upon completion of the Kahoot game and this will help me determine the areas in which students have struggled the most. After each question is answered students will be able to see if they have scored correctly or incorrectly so they are aware of their mistakes. The technology needed for this assessment will include tablets (one per student) and access to internet.
- Summative Assessment- A website that can be used for a summative assessment would be "Khan Academy". On this website students will focus on numbers that are missing between 1 and 120. The numbers are listed in different ways including lists. Here the numbers are listed and they should find the number missing in-between. There are also word problems included where it asks students questions such as "What whole number comes before 100". There are also questions that have a number chart and students have to identify what number is missing from the chart. Student data will be tracked at the end of the exam. With those scores it breaks down the categories of the exam and from this data I will be able to determine how to adjust the next lesson accordingly.
